Performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show is a music artist’s dream. The 13-minute concert turns the entire football field into a stage, and Kendrick Lamar brought all the heat to his 2025 performance. The hip-hop artist even invited Serena Williams, SZA and Samuel L. Jackson to join him on stage. Since it was an epic production, many viewers are asking how much money Kendrick was paid to perform at the year’s biggest sporting event. In any case, how much is any celebrity artist paid to sing at the Halftime Show?

Creating a memorable Halftime Show performance is a stressful ordeal. In her 2022 documentary Halftime, Jennifer Lopez opened up about her experience sharing the stage with Shakira. Since the two had to split the 13-minute timeframe, Jennifer pointed to the difficulties she had in creating her own performance.

Below, learn what Kendrick and past Super Bowl Halftime Show performers got paid.

Viewership data has not been shared yet for the 2025 Super Bowl. However, more than 120 million people tuned in to watch the 2024 game, according to Forbes.

How Much Did Kendrick Lamar Make From the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Kendrick did not earn extra money from performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy told Newsweek in February 2022 that the NFL “covers all costs associated with the show and does pay the performers’ union scale.”

“There is not an appearance fee, but the artists are indeed paid union scale,” McCarthy added. “Union scale” refers to the minimum pay that someone must pay performers. Per Forbes, artists typically earn “a fraction of the six- and seven-figure sums.”

Sometimes, a performer contributes some of their own money toward their Super Bowl Halftime performance. In 2021, The Weeknd‘s manager, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, told Billboard that he paid $7 million to “make this halftime show be what he envisioned.”

Kendrick Lamar’s Net Worth

Kendrick’s net worth increased to $140 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, thanks to his years of dedication as a music artist.
