I think I’m much like anyone pro-ageing – the spirit is willing but sometimes the mind is weak. The other day I caught myself wondering about a neck lift after seeing Dame Joan at Chelsea Flower Show looking sharp as a whistle around her jaw line. As my jaw line gradually loses definition, most noticeable to me in summer strappy tops, I know that my brain will, inevitably bring me back to those thoughts. I do often wonder that if we never knew that it was even a possibility to go under the knife, whether we’d even think twice about it.

However, what I have got is my ZIIP Halo, which up to now, I’m most fond of for occasional use – pre-event and so on. I like the plumping and toning effect that it gives my skin and the fact that the founder, Melanie Simon, talks you through all the routines via the app. The app allows you to synch the ZIIP device to whichever routine you are using so you really just have to do what Melanie does – a series of blips and buzzes will tell you when a movement is complete. I mean, if exercise was this easy, I’d be in the gym morning, noon and night. I’ve been a fan of ZIIP Halo since its launch and I don’t really have a lot of time for gadgetry in general – we have enough random plugs and wires sitting in a drawer with no idea to what or whom they belong: I don’t need to add to that by testing faddy gadgets.

But, you know, ZIIP Halo is different. It’s a 17-in 1 microcurrent device that treats any number of skin concerns – that number pleases my mystery wire drawer because I’m adding nothing to it. ZIIP Halo makes an excellent all-rounder because it suits all users from the can’t be bothered to the absolutely obsessed. If you use it properly and regularly, you will see results and with the full 17 treatments, each powered by a different combination of electrical currents that come in waves as you move the device, you can do as much or as little as you please.

So, as a reminder, ZIIP Halo uses – not painful but tingly – electrical microcurrents which you need to use in conjunction with a Conductive Gel (I like the Silver but the basic one is fine, too) to allow for smooth movement and to avoid it being uncomfortable. The microcurrents stimulate collagen, giving firmer, plumper results. It also ‘repairs’ the skin and you will notice more smoothness. In terms of lift, you will absolutely get it – in my pictures, I’ve given the jaw treatment a five day run and you can see the difference so I don’t need the independent clinicals (available HERE) to know that this is a very good use of ten minutes of my time every day. 9 times out of ten I do it in front of the tv or Netflix. Bear in mind that the tiniest fraction of lift will show in the overall – you aren’t going to look like you’ve had a full face lift – but the fine margins are what gives the most natural and best, in my view, results.

Up until now, I’ve been an as-and-when ZIIP Halo user because I find it works so nicely as an instant perker-upper, especially on a Thursday or Friday night when weekend plans are looming. I take myself through the 6 minute Face Lift routine or the 4 Minute Facial but if you are looking for more firmness around the neck and jaw I’d go for the 3 minute Jowls program followed by the 6 minute Neck routine. That’s what I’ve done to show you the results, five days on the trot. I should say that it’s hard to get accurate befores and afters – I didn’t want to exaggerate any looseness by slacking my jaw because that’s not how I rest my face so I’ve got a weird expression that looks to me like my natural resting face (possibly need to work on that!). Plus, when I’m not smiling the difference in my lips is so noticeable.  I’ve done my best anyway and regular readers will know that I’ve advocated for this device since I first tried it.
