A twin is navigating a devastating loss.
Rebecca Wylie Simms, a food and lifestyle influencer who went by the nickname “Boo,” has died following a “tragic surgery complication,” her twin sister and business partner Sarah Simms Hendrix shared. She was 39.
“This loss is immeasurable, and our hearts are completely shattered,” Sarah wrote in her Jan. 19 post from their joint Instagram account Lady & Larder. “Boo was our magic maker, our color painter, and the brightest light I have ever known. We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this overwhelmingly painful time.”
She continued, “Your continued support means more than words could ever say. Thank you, from the depths of my being, for standing with us during this unimaginable time."
Rebecca was mother to two daughters, Mavis Loretta, 3, and Bertie Lou, 2, whom she shared with husband Sean Montes.
In addition to her work with Sarah and Lady & Larder, she also acted as creative director for Lazy Dog Restaurants and shared her art—which included paintings, graphic designs and handmade Halloween costumes—under the Instagram handle Wylie West Creative.
In addition to the number of fans sharing their heartbreak over the loss in the comment section of Sarah’s post were a number of Hollywood celebrities sharing their grief.
Filmmaker Mark Duplass wrote, “Sending you all of our love. And a promise to carry forward her indomitable spirit and radical positivity,” while Busy Philipps added, alongside a broken heart, “Oh sarah. i’m so beyond sorry for your loss. sending you and your family so much love.”

Rebecca’s passing comes just two weeks after she shared a moving reflection on the new year.
“My toast for 2025: may we remember to wake up and dance,” she wrote on Jan. 2, alongside a carousel of images with her family and daughters. “Listen more. Linger longer. Make gratitude our aesthetic. Go hard on the problem and soft on the person. Pick up the phone. Get our hands dirty. Mail more letters.”
Rebecca continued, “Buy the hat. Sing louder. Surrender to the surprises. Go slowly. Follow what makes you feel. Be amazed by it all.”
The influencer also took a moment to get honest about where she was with her plans for the future. “I looked back at my list of goals from 1/1/24 and 90 percent are still waiting to get crossed off. And that’s okay,” Rebecca continued. “This is an official reminder that goals rollover and don’t expire. May we trust the process.”
She added, “Give grace to ourselves and others.”
