Severance has pulled in countless viewers with its startling yet witty fictional storyline. While parodying the American corporate lifestyle, the Apple TV+ series follows the lives of “outies” and “innies” who work at Lumon Industries. The biotechnology corporation introduces an idea to “sever” an employee’s work life from their personal life. Since the series has resonated with fans, many are wondering if they can actually visit Lumon’s office. So, is it real?

Below, find out what we know about the real-life office used to house Lumon Industries.

What Is Lumon?

Lumon is described as a “leading biotech company,” according to a LinkedIn page matching the Severance corporation.

“Founded by the visionary Kier Eagan, we pride ourselves on maintaining his legacy of excellence and adhering to his 9 core principles: Vision, Verve, Wit, Cheer, Humility, Benevolence, Nimbleness, Probity and Wiles,” the LinkedIn page reads, while even noting what “sets [Lumon] apart from other workplaces.”

“We offer select employees access to our patented Severance process,” Lumon’s profile indicates. “What is Severance? Imagine being able to come into work completely uninhibited by your home problems. Or imagine being able to go home and never think about work. Using a minimally invasive surgical technique, we are able to ‘sever’ your brain so that, essentially, you’ve got a part of you that works and a part of you that plays.”

Overall, Lumon promises to “change the way that major corporations approach the ever evasive, ‘work-life balance.'”

Technically, yes — the Lumon building from Severance is real, but not in the way the series presents. In reality, it’s just an office space. According to Newsweek, the work space used to film Severance is called Bell Labs and is located in the Holmdel Township of Monmouth County, New Jersey. The building was initially a research and development facility.

The outlet further reported that other TV series and films have used the Bell Labs office for filming, including The Crowded Room and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

How to Watch Severance

Seasons 1 and 2 of Severance are currently streaming on Apple TV+.

Is There a Season 3 of Severance?

Apple has not confirmed whether Severance has been renewed for a third season yet. However, director Ben Stiller confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a writers room was underway in Los Angeles.
