The power of play is vital for a well rounded education, and Mountain View Elementary School in Virginia has proven this yet again. Principal Drew Miller has introduced a fresh approach to learning through the innovative board game FOROS, from Doren Toy Co.

Through a spontaneously organized school-wide competition, the entire fifth grade has embraced FOROS, a strategy-based tabletop game that challenges students to think critically and solve problems while having fun. The culmination of weeks of play led to an exhilarating end-of-year tournament, where the top 16 players competed in a silent auditorium, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

Educators noted that FOROS helped students who struggle with traditional subjects find success through its unique 3-dimensional strategy, unlocking vital mental, emotional, and social health skills.

“I jumped at the chance for our kids to have their brains stretched in a different way, for them to compete and learn about sportsmanship,” said Principal Miller. “Education takes a lot of different looks, and this is another way to kind of challenge kids and have some productive struggle.”

With recent accolades like the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award and recognition from MENSA, FOROS is not just a game; it’s a tool for enhancing learning and fostering social connections.
