Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has passed away at the age of 48.

His wife Kimberly just annnounced the news on her Instagram account, writing, “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

If you aren’t aware, James announced his diagnosis with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2024, after being diagnosed in 2023. He had to miss a Dawson’s Creek reunion last year.

His wife shared an update on his health just a few months ago.

James leaves behind six kids: daughters Olivia, Annabel, Emilia and Gwendolyn, and sons Joshua and Jeremiah.
