James Van Der Beek‘s wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, has shared an emotional tribute to honor the late actor on what would have been their 16th wedding anniversary.

On Saturday (August 1), she shared several throwback photos of her and her husband to Instagram, writing, “The beauty of this marriage continues to unfold everyday with all these incredible children we have. He continues to be present and guide us. I’m eternally grateful.”

This is the first wedding anniversary since James passed away at age 48 amid a battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer in February. They initially married in August 2010 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The couple shared six kids together, including Olivia, 15, Annabel, 12, Emilia 10, Gwendolyn, 8, Joshua, 14, and Jeremiah, 4.

Kimberly previously shared tributes to the Dawson’s Creek alum on Father’s Day and on his first posthumous birthday in March.

“Missing you so much and thinking of how magnificent you were in every single way today. And somehow, from the other side? You continue to parent. You’re a marvel,” she wrote on the Father’s Day post.

She also revealed that while James was on his deathbed, the couple chose to renew their vows, including new rings and filling their bedroom with flowers and candles.
