Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJoseph Gordon-Levitt is continuing to build his upcoming slate of projects with horror movie Pendulum, helmed by Mark Heyman in his directorial debut. The Vertical Entertainment production, also starring Norman Reedus, has now received an official release date.
What is the release date for the new Joseph Gordon-Levitt horror movie Pendulum?
Apart from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Reedus, Pendulum also features Phoebe Dynevor (Fair Play). Two-time Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) is also playing a key role.
Deadline reports that the horror movie will hit theaters worldwide on January 1, 2027. Speaking further about the film, Heyman is also the scriptwriter. He previously earned a BAFTA nomination for Black Swan.
In Heyman’s script, “married couple Patrick (Gordon-Levitt) and Abigail (Dynevor) journey to a new-age retreat in New Mexico, drawn by the possibility of healing after a traumatic event. Patrick is willing to do anything to help his wife, but becomes distrustful of the retreat’s enigmatic leader (Weaver) even as Abigail falls under her spell. As paranoia builds, the couple must determine if the group’s spiritual practices offer genuine healing – or mask a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both.”

Director Heyman says Pendulum is “a deeply personal film, inspired by real, and really scary, experiences. It’s truly a dream come true to see it released in theaters with a partner like Vertical.”
Darren Aronofsky, Jacob Jaffke, and Dave Caplan are producing the film. Moreover, Luke Daniels, Kurt Fethke, David Gendron, Lucas Hoffmann, Ali Jazayeri, Stefan Klink, Daniel McGilvray, Vaagn Sarkissian, Viviana Zarragoitia, Andy Price, Sara Price, Liz Destro, and Michael Sklut are executive producers.
The movie is rated R by the MPA for “some strong/bloody violent content, sexuality, drug use, nudity, and language.”
