Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayKarol G reportedly went all out for her 2026 Coachella Music Festival performance this year. The 35-year-old Tropicoqueta Colombian superstar is helming the Sunday headlining slot for this year’s festival in Indio, Calif. And according to her team, she spent around three times what she was paid by the festival to bring her headlining set to life. Keep reading to find out more… While her exact salary has not been confirmed, Coachella headliners typically earn several million dollars, or “in the mid-seven figures,” per THR. But Karol G invested far beyond that into the show, pouring major money into the production, including visuals, rehearsals and staging, in order to create a massive moment with Super Bowl-like exposure opportunity. As far as taking the financial hit, her team explained that the performance was not meant to be a one-off show. JBeau Lewis, a partner agent at UTA who has Karol as a client, said to THR: “No one is taking for granted the magnitude of what this is.”
“Every artist and their team has to determine what the value is for themselves. The strategic, savvy artists and their teams see the big picture of how Coachella both in the live experience and the livestream fit into the greater landscape of what they’re trying to accomplish,” he continued.
He says Karol spent three times her salary for the gig on production costs alone, but declined to talk specific figures.
“Karol is not seeing this as a one-off, ‘I did it and I’m going home now,’ type of show. She is someone who both deserves and seeks world domination as one of the biggest artists on the planet. The show’s part of a bigger plan. Giving her best in front of 100,000-plus people there and to the tens of millions on the livestream is going to benefit that long-term plan,” he added.
Coachella doesn’t provide official figures on their livestream, but it’s “unquestionably become a behemoth drawing in millions of views,” THR noted.
The outlet also noted that if headliners typically get paid in the mid-seven figures, then Karol “could’ve paid into the eight figures.”
Following the Weekend 1 performance, Karol‘s Spotify streams increased 15% one day after, and her U.S. streams reportedly jumped over 35%, per Rolling Stone, suggesting that the investment is already paying off. Stay tuned for Weekend 2!
