Kate Hudson Reveals Her Biggest Lesson for Her 3 Kids

Kate Hudson knows what wants her kids to borrow from her.

As the Running Point actress, mom to Ryder, 22, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham, 14, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy and Rani, 7, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, detailed the the lessons she hopes to teach her children, for her it comes down to one key message.

"My hope is that they see how hard I work," Kate exclusively told E! News at the 2026 TIME100 Gala April 23. "And that they understand. I know that's how I feel about my parents. It's just work ethic. Discipline, work ethic."

"What we do—and what I know my kids are gonna do—is we're a community," she continued. "It's a real community, and we can't do it without each other. It's a really collaborative medium."

Having that support system has been invaluable for the 47-year-old during her decades in the public eye.

"To make friends, to really celebrate each other and celebrate each other's work," she reflected, "I hope that's what they take from what I'm trying to model."

But beyond her prolific journey on the big and small screem, Kate also wants emphasized it’s important they know how much she has prioritized them throughout her career, too.

"Family always comes first, no matter what," she said. "Nothing matters as much as your children and your family."

And Kate hopes these lessons ring true especially after previously predicting that some of her kids will wind up following her into show business.

"Our family, I feel like we come out either with doing a scene [or] dancing," she joked to E! News earlier this month. “I don’t know what it is about the DNA in our family.”

As for proof, look no further than Kate’s brothers Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell also following in parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s footsteps. (Only Kurt’s son Boston Russell has led a career out of the public eye.)

“It’s kind of crazy,” the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress added. “Everybody in our family … it’s definitely a showbiz thing, or it's just a creative storyteller has to be doing something performance oriented, all of them.”
