These hand knit dishcloths are worked with a really easy seed stitch that gives your cloth a little more tooth and makes an ordinary project appear extraordinary.

How to Make a Knit Dishcloth


Do you remember being at your grandma’s house and she always had at least one knit dishcloth sitting by the sink or on the counter? With this dishcloth knitting pattern, you can make your own and knit some extra ones to give as gifts! This is also an idea senior craft project. Grandma would be proud.

Dishcloths are great beginner projects because they work up quickly, and provide something useful as the finished product – which in turn can be extremely satisfying to use or to gift.

This pattern offers up the basic seed stitch for a little variety, with a simple garter edge for stability. We also use 100% cotton making this a DIY you can be proud of.

Materials


How to Make a Knit Dishcloth


  • Cast on 32 stitches
  • Row 1: K3, *K1,P1; repeat from * 12 times, K3
  • Row 2: K3, *P1,K1; repeat from * 12 times, K3

Tip: choose your favorite colors, or make them in your favorite team’s colors!

  1. Repeat rows 1 & 2 until piece measures approximately 8″ from cast on edge
  2. Bind off, securing the last stitch.  Break yarn and weave in ends.
