Vertical has shared the official trailer for Driver’s Ed, its newest coming-of-age comedy movie starring Academy Award nominee Kumail Nanjiani. The film is scheduled to debut on May 15, 2026, in select theaters and on digital platforms.

“The film follows a group of teens who hit the road in a stolen driver’s ed car, racing against the clock to help a lovesick high school senior track down his college freshman girlfriend and win her back,” reads the official synopsis. “Over the course of one chaotic 24-hour journey, they’re chased by school security and the cops, targeted by small-time crooks, and somehow end up adopting a three-legged cat.”

The video introduces four high school friends who unexpectedly embark on a crazy road trip after one of them steals a driver’s ed car to win back his college girlfriend’s heart. The teen comedy also stars Sam Nivola (The White Lotus), Sophie Telegadis (One Stupid Thing), Mohana Krishnan (It Lives Inside), Aidan Laprete (The Pitt), and Lilah Pate (The Runarounds), with Emmy Award nominee Molly Shannon (People We Meet on Vacation).

Driver’s Ed is directed by Dumb and Dumber filmmaker Bobby Farrelly, with Thomas Moffett writing the screenplay. “I’ve been a big fan of road trip comedies ever since we kicked off our career with Dumb & Dumber,” Farrelly said in a statement. “What I particularly loved about making Driver’s Ed is that I got to work from a really clever script and with a very fun and talented cast. Win win!”
