Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl show is just around the corner this weekend on Sunday (February 8), and fans are eagerly waiting to see which songs he’s going to perform during the halftime performance.

Of the many songs in his discography, only a few have risen to the top of several betting markets, including Kalshi, where “LA CANCIÓN” is currently hovering in the Top 10 of predicted openers for the show.

“La Canción” (or “The Song”) is a collaboration between Bad Bunny and J Balvin, released as a second single from their collaborative 2019 album Oasis.

The song rose to No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100, and came with a Colin Tilley-directed video in a club. Coldplay even covered the song a few years later on tour!

In an interview with SiriusXM, Bad Bunny opened up about the track.

“When I made it, I knew it was a good song, but I didn’t think it was going to be ‘the song,’ the one everyone would love, the most successful one on the album. I didn’t think people would embrace it so much and that it would become an anthem,” he reflected.

“It was one of the last songs we made. I wrote it on the way to the studio. I had to fly to Miami to record with José (J Balvin). We already had more or less the idea for all the songs; a few were still missing, and I told him, ‘On the way to the flight, I’m going to write some songs to some beats I have, and then I’ll show them to you to see which one you like.’ I made several, and this was the one he liked.”

The song revolves around a past relationship between lovers, and feeling nostalgia after hearing the song they used to sing and dance to together.

“I thought I had already forgotten you / But they played the song / That we sang to very drunk / That we danced to very drunk / We kissed each other to very drunk,” they sing, translated to English.

The track is especially meaningful as the two had a falling out in the years since its release, but recently reconciled onstage at Bad Bunny‘s concert.
