One of the most legendary video game franchises ever is once again being planned for a potential movie, with the Final Destination Bloodlines directors attached to it.

What Konami video game is getting the movie treatment?

According to a new report from THR, a Metal Gear Solid movie is officially in the works, with directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein now attached to the adaptation of the project.

According to the report, the duo’s commitment to Metal Gear Solid comes as a part of a first-look deal the duo has signed with Sony Pictures, which covers all of the studio’s film labels. The Metal Gear Solid franchise was originally created by legendary creator, designer, writer, and director Hideo Kojima, and this would be the first time a movie adaptation has been made.

Previously, one was reported to be in the works from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who seems to no likely be connected to the project. The franchise spans a litany of games, and follows the transgenerational story of Snake, a special forces operative tasked with finding the superweapon known as Metal Gear.

Speaking on the game franchise, the duo called the franchise “nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”
