Lindsey Vonn Crashes 13 Seconds into 2026 Winter Olympics Downhill Race After Tearing ACL

Lindsey Vonn has crashed during the alpine ski women’s downhill race at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The 41-year-old Olympian had just gotten started in the race taking place in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on Saturday (February 8) when she lost her balance.

She crashed 13 seconds into her run after clearing just a few of the 36 gates of the 2,572-meter course, reports AP News. Lindsey appeared to clip her right arm on a gate. Here’s the clip.

As the race was paused, a helicopter flew in with medics to assist the personnel on-hand. Announcers at the venue shared concerns for her health.

Lindsey was the 13th to go and the first to not finish the race.

Just days before the Olympics, she tore the ACL in her knee during the downhill race at the World Cup and chose to still compete.

The day before the crash, Lindsey took to X to clap back at a doctor doubting her injury online.

“lol thanks doc. My ACL was fully functioning until last Friday,” she wrote. “Just because it seems impossible to you doesn’t mean it’s not possible. And yes, my ACL is 100% ruptured. Not 80% or 50%. It’s 100% gone,” she wrote in response.

There’s already one strange scandal happening at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Find out what “Penisgate” is right here.
