A despondent man fatally shot himself after he was caught with his pants down -- literally -- driving his car at a coffee shop in Arizona, authorities said.

The motorist, Nautica Malone, began his journey toward death last Wednesday when he pulled up to a drive thru window at Bikini Beans Coffee in Tempe -- and the barista saw him naked from the waist down.

Immediately, the barista whipped out her camera and began filming the smiling Malone, who then sped off in his vehicle. Check out the footage ... it's all very shocking.

The video was uploaded to social media and it quickly spread online with millions of viewers commenting and accusing Malone of inappropriately touching himself in front of the female barista.

Malone then drove to an area near Tempe, Arizona, and shot himself in the head om January 11, according to the Maricopa county Medical Examiner. .

We reached out to the owner of Bikini Bean Coffee, Ben Lyles, who tells us ... “Our thoughts and prayer are with the family of the individual involved during this difficult time. This was an unfortunate and tragic situation. As a company, the safety our employees is always our top priority. In this case, an individual chose to commit a crime at one of our locations. We take incidents like this very seriously and remain committed to protecting our team and maintaining a safe and respectful environment.”
