DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirms another Man of Tomorrow casting. The sequel will see Superman and Lex Luthor taking on Brainiac next year.

Who will seemingly be appearing in Man of Tomorrow?

On Threads, Gunn shared a photo with the words “Day 49,” as they are 49 days into the sequel’s production. Behind the text is a picture of Alan Tudyk and a bunch of characters he’s previously played. The image confirms Tudyk reprising his role as one of the Superman robots in the film, as recently hinted by Milly Alcock. While less likely, it’s also possible that he could be playing a new role. The actor previously voiced Clayface in the animated Harley Quinn show and Dr. Phosphorus in Creature Commandos.

Tudyk’s Superman robot was named Gary at the end of the first film, playing a key role as one of the hero’s supporters. Man of Tomorrow will also bring DC heroes from other corners of the universe into the fold, with an extended cast that includes Aaron Pierre’s Green Lantern, Milly Alcock’s Supergirl, and more. The film will also mark the first feature film appearance of Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.

As for the DCU itself, the universe continues with Supergirl playing in theaters now, followed by the stand-alone Clayface film and the Lanterns TV show. There is also a Jimmy Olsen or Gorilla Grodd TV show in the works, along with a Wonder Woman script written by Supergirl’s writer.

The Man of Tomorrow cast also includes James Gunn’s favorite Superman characterAdria ArjonaAndre Royo, and Daredevil’s Matthew Lillard in undisclosed roles. Its set videos have already spoiled one of the film’s major battles. A recent report also points to the DCU having already cast its Batman, though the studio has yet to confirm the news.

Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
