Mickey Rourke Breaks Silence on Eviction, Explains Why He Didn't Pay Rent

Mickey Rourke is speaking out for the first time after he was forced to leave his house.

Earlier this week, the 73-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was ordered to vacate his Los Angeles after a judge ruled in favor of his landlord, Eric Goldie.

In a new statement, Mickey addressed his decision to withhold nearly $60,000 in rent.

The boxer turned actor said that there were “ongoing rodent issues” that were “never fully resolved” and that he was dealing with frequent issues with the bathroom and plumbing. While he claimed that he made “repeated requests for repairs,” Mickey alleged that the issues were not fixed and “basic maintenance was never properly handled.”

“Withholding rent was not a decision I made lightly,” Mickey added. “I simply could not continue paying for a house that was in such poor condition after so many attempts to have these issues corrected.”

According to the court documents, the judgment was filed by default in favor of the landlord, giving him “possession only” of the L.A. property, canceling the rental agreement and forfeiting the lease, although it made no mention of the past-due rent Mickey still owed or his claims about the condition of the home.

After it was first revealed in December 2025 that Mickey was facing eviction, a GoFundMe was set up, which had raised more than $100,000 to help pay his rent. Mickey later denied any responsibility for the fundraiser, which he described as “embarrassing.”
