Miles Teller Reveals Wife Keleigh Teller Initially Rejected Him 3 Times (Exclusive)

Miles Teller may not be a top gun when it comes to flirting.

The Divergent alum—who tied the knot with wife Keleigh Sperry Teller in 2019—recently detailed how his now-decade-long love story with the model began as a lesson in persistence.

“When I first met her, she turned me down like three times in one night,” Miles admitted in an exclusive interview with E! News at The Gorge premiere in Los Angeles Feb. 12. “I would say the fact I kept coming back and trying to swoon her, I'll give myself a pat on the back for that.”

Though the pair ultimately fell in love after meeting at a 2013 Grammys after-party, their connection nearly didn’t happen.

“I got lucky the valet line was very long,” Miles, 37, continued. “She was leaving and I had no idea how to contact her or anything.”

He added, “Now look at us, 12 years later.”

And while Keleigh, 32, initially took time to warm up to the Top Gun: Maverick actor, he didn’t have the same reservations because they “just clicked.”

"I told my buddy,” he told People during a joint interview with Keleigh in 2017, “'I think I'm going to be with this girl for a long time.'"

As for how the pair took the next step after four years of dating? Miles proposed while they were on an African safari, handing her a rose with the dates of their relationship and a letter that noted “today was the last day you woke up as my girlfriend.”

And indeed it was.

"I'll never get the image out of my head of him down on one knee with a tear in his eye," Keleigh shared. "He really thought about every detail and was so nervous!"

And ever since Keleigh said yes and the pair wed, Miles has used each day to fall even more in love with his wife, especially on special occasions.

“Happy birthday to my dancing queen, my love, my eternal source of happiness and all things good in this world,” he wrote in an October post to X (formerly Twitter). “I hope to celebrate you every day I’m on this earth, my darling.”
