Victoria Surma, pediatric cardiac intensivist, recaps a session she moderated at the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society 2025 Annual Meeting titled Milrinone: Friend or Foe? Milrinone, a medication thought to affect heart function and dilate blood vessels, is used ubiquitously in pediatric patients after heart surgery. Despite such widespread use, there is not sufficient data to support that all pediatric cardiac patients benefit from milrinone.
