Chief Deputy District Attorney William Rowles said in a statement, via People: “For decades, victims of Nathan Chasing Horse came forward and they were ignored. I hope this verdict gives them some peace.”
“Today’s verdict sends a clear message that exploitation and abuse will not be tolerated, regardless of the defendant’s public persona or claims of spiritual authority,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson added.
Nathan Chasing Horse‘s accusers and their families claimed he “exploited his position as a spiritual leader, with multiple victims attending his ceremonies or approaching him for medical help,” per BBC.
Deputy district attorney Bianca Pucci told the jury that he had “spun a web of abuse,” telling one victim that the spirits “wanted her to give up her virginity to save her mother, who had cancer,” per the BBC report.
He was facing 10 counts of sexual assault of a minor under 16, 1 count of open/gross lewdness, 1 count of sexual assault, and 1 count of possession of visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of a child, via KTNV.
There are more charges pending in other states and Canada against the actor.
