Netflix has shared a brand-new trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, along with an official premiere date for the long-awaited sequel. The new anime series returns to Night City with a standalone story and fresh cast separate from the original 2022 series.

Netflix has confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere on October 20, 2026. The streamer announced the news along with a new teaser trailer and batch of images at this year’s Anime NYC.

The first series premiered on September 13, 2022, and was a standalone tie-in to the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. It follows David Martinez, a street kid who fights the dangerous criminal underworld in Night City by becoming an edgerunner. The series was a huge hit, and its success drove a massive resurgence for the video game in terms of sales and engagement.

The official synopsis asks what extremes someone must reach to make their story matter when the world is blinded by spectacle. That framing appears to shape the new season’s central conflict. Moreover, the trailer hints at another tragedy unfolding in the city, with its characters seemingly forced to make difficult choices.

The footage also introduces new cast members featured in the upcoming series. Led by Roman Carax, a young cinephile documenting City’s brutal realities. He is joined by Talia Yang, an independent former corpo who has become integrated with Maelstrom. Other characters include D, a Snake Nation netrunner seeking revenge. Weak Kingsley also appears in the series, a veteran edgerunner who remains stuck in the past.

All 10 episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunner 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 20, 2026. While it is a self-contained story, it remains connected to the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
