A new Supergirl clip suggests a possible connection between Jason Momoa’s Lobo and Brainiac. The latter will debut in the DCU in 2027’s Superman follow-up, Man of Tomorrow. Meanwhile, Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.

How Lobo could be connected to DCU’s Brainiac

A new clip from the upcoming DC film dropped on social media. In the scene, Jason Momoa’s Lobo enters the bar where the title character, played by Milly Alcock, and her ally, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), are sitting. As he walks past their seat, Kara tells Knoll that the Czarnian bounty hunter is an “immortal with a god complex” who killed all of his kind.

In the comics, Lobo’s homeworld, Czarnia, was a peaceful planet before he was born. Following his birth and during his youth, he starts planning the genocide of his people, eventually enacting it with lethal scorpion-like creatures.

However, Lobo is unaware that the cybernetic knowledge-obsessed alien Brainiac struck a deal with a Czarnian general and captured the city of Paz many years before his birth.

After learning about the existence of more Czarnians, Lobo seeks to take command of them, eventually forming the House of Lobo. Unfortunately for him, Brainiac unleashes the Brainiac Queen, who slaughters most of his people, leaving only Lobo and his daughter alive.

Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger, is debuting in the DCU in Man of Tomorrow, releasing on July 9, 2027. Accordingly, the DCU could adapt this storyline and likely reveal Paz’s fate in Supergirl, essentially giving Lobo a reason to join Superman and Lex Luthor’s conflict against the alien.

Meanwhile, Craig Gillespie directed Supergirl from Ana Nogueira’s screenplay. DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran co-produced it.

The official synopsis reads, “When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.”

In addition to Alcock, Ridley, and Momoa, the film stars Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, David Corenswet, and Emily Beecham, among others.
