IFC and Shudder have released a brand new red band trailer for Faces of Death, the upcoming remake of the infamous 1978 film starring Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, and more. Faces of Death is set to release on April 10, 2026.

The movie is billed as “the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘is it real or not?’ conceit continues as a woman (Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction, or unfolding in real time,” according to the film’s official synopsis.

What happens in the Faces of Death trailer?

The new trailer follows the story of a woman (Ferreira) working at a video moderation company who’s job it is to flag down videos that might seem too graphic. She seems to stumble upon a litany of snuff videos that all reference the original Faces of Death movie and believes there is more to the story. The trailer also seems to show some sort of sinister group that is recreating the movie with people.

Alongside Ferreira and Montgomery, Faces of Death also stars Josie Totah, Aaron Holliday, with Jermaine Fowler, and Charli XCX. The movie is directed by Daniel Goldhaber and co-written by Isa Mazzei and Goldhaber.

The original Faces of Death released in 1978 from director John Alan Schwartz. The film is presented as an actual documentary and follows a pathologist, Francis B. Gröss (played by Michael Carr), documenting footage of deaths. Although many scenes were faked, the film was still banned in many countries, leading to it gaining a massive cult following. A sequel, Faces of Death II, was released in 1981.
