Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel is skipping part of the 2026 NFL Draft to undergo counseling amid one of the biggest stories in sports right now.

Round one of the draft kicks off tonight, and will continue through Saturday. Apparently, he will not be around for the Saturday portion of the draft, which contains rounds 4-7.

By now, you may have seen that the 50-year-old former NFL player and NFL sportswriter Dianna Russini were seen in photos together at an Arizona resort. They both denied any romantic involvement at the time, as they are both married to other people.

This week, Mike finally addressed the media, and revealed he has had some difficult conversations with his family amid the intense media speculation. Dianna ended up resigning from her job at The Athletic due to the media scrutiny.

Now, he has released a new statement.

“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend. This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them,” he shared (via ESPN).

He continued, “I have always wanted to lead by example, and I believe this is what I have to do to be the best husband, father and coach that I possibly can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is one that I know will make me a better person. I appreciate the support that everyone has given me and promise a stronger resolve as a result.”

All of this comes after a second set of photos of Mike and Dianna were released just yesterday, showing them seemingly at a breakfast alone.
