Fresh peaches are a great topping for French toast, this recipe for Peach French Toast is to die for. This breakfast is decadent and tastes delicious, making it perfect for weekend brunch or serving to guests.
Add-ins and Substitutions
- Use other types of bread- You can make this French toast with any type of bread you have on hand, but it’s best with Texas toast, Brioche bread, or other thick types.
- Substitute brown sugar- You can make the syrup with brown sugar in place of the white sugar for a deeper, richer flavor.
- Add other toppings- Make this with other toppings as well, such as caramel, Chantilly Cream, other fresh berries (like raspberries or strawberries), or Simple Cherry Pie Filling.
- Make it with other fruits- This syrup can be made with bananas, oranges, mango, or pineapple, too.
How to make Peachy French Toast
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons canola oil, divided
- 8 slices thick white bread (French bread or challah)
- Fresh blueberries, for garnish
- Maple syrup, for serving
Fresh Peach Sauce
- 4 fresh peaches, pits removed and sliced
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- In a medium saucepan on medium heat, add peaches, water, sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil and simmer 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Set aside. In a medium bowl, add eggs and beat with a fork to combine. Add milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
- In a large sauté pan on medium heat, add 1 teaspoon canola oil and use a paper towel to coat the bottom of the pan. Stir egg mixture and add one piece of bread. Turn bread in mixture several times and add to pan. Continue with remaining 3 pieces of bread. Cook for 2-3 minutes and flip over and cook the other side for 2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Place on plate and cover. Re-oil sauté pan and cook remaining bread. Serve French toast with warm peach sauce. Top with fresh raspberries and maple syrup if desired.
