Quinn Hughes, a member of the Men’s US Hockey Team that just won the gold medal at the 2026 Olympics, is also speaking out about the Donald Trump comment.

He, along with his brother Jack Hughes, went on GMA to discuss the victory – and the Women’s team was brought up. The US Women’s team also won gold at this Olympic Games.

If you did not see, the 79-year-old POTUS received backlash for his comment about the women’s team in a phone call to the men’s team after their gold medal match.

While inviting the men to the State of the Union, he said, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team. You do know that,” as men’s hockey team members laughed. He then said, “I do believe I’d probably would be impeached [if the women’s team wasn’t invited].”

In the GMA interview on Tuesday (February 24), Quinn said, “I’m glad you mentioned the women’s team again. You know, we’re really happy for them. Obviously, a lot going on on social media surrounding our team and their team. But, you know, the last couple [times] we’ve done a lot of training with them and got to know a lot of those girls really well.”

About going to the White House, he added, “Yeah, we’re excited to go. It’s something you don’t get to do—I don’t know what today is—every Tuesday. But yeah, it’s going to be special for us…”
