Offset Shot Outside of Casino in Florida

Lil Tjay's legal team is speaking out following his arrest.

After Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida on April 6, the "In My Head" rapper's attorney reacted to her client being arrested and charged in connection with the incident by the Seminole Police Department.

Dawn Florio shared in an April 7 Instagram post that her team was "issuing this release in regards to" Lil Tjay's alleged involvement in the shooting, which she added, had resulted in "non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of the Migos."

"Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting," the statement continued. "Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the occurrence of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors."

E! News has reached out to a rep for Lil Tjay and his attorney for comment and has not yet heard back.

The Seminole Police Department confirmed to E! News in an April 7 statement that Lil Tjay (real name Tione Merritt) was arrested on April 6 and "has been charged with disorderly conduct -- affray, a first-degree misdemeanor under Florida Statute."

"A second person detained at the scene has not been charged," the statement continued. "The investigation to identify one or more additional persons involved in the incident is ongoing. The injured individual remains at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., with a non-life threatening injury."

He was also charged with operating a vehicle without a valid license, according to jail records viewed by E! News. He is out on a $3,000 bond for both charges and is pending trial.

Following the shooting, which occurred at the resort's valet area around 7 p.m. ET, a spokesperson for Offset—who shares three kids with ex Cardi B, as well as three other kids from previous relationships—shared insight into the "Need It" artist's health.

"We can confirm he was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care," his rep told E! News in a statement April 7. "He is stable and being closely monitored."

The incident comes three years after Migos bandmate Takeoff was killed in a fatal shooting outside of a Houston club after attending a party with fellow Migos member and uncle Quavo. It's a tragedy that weighs heavily on the "Stir Fry" rapper.

"It's hard for me to talk about s--t right now. I've never talked about this stuff. Seriously," he told Variety in November 2023. "Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s--t is hard. That's why I don't, to be honest."

"Some things I don't ever tell nobody," he admitted. "He's not here. That s--t feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it's fake. And I don't say nothing to nobody about it."
