PROTECT YOUR DNA WITH QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY
Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThere’s something undeniably glamorous about the act of applying red lipstick. The click of a compact, the twist of a bullet, the sweep of crimson across the lips. The subway touch-up, the party-corner fix, the bathroom mirror moment—I get a little thrill from it every time, whether I’m the one reapplying or just watching it happen. It’s part ritual, part performance—a small act that somehow carries big energy. From Rihanna to Dita Von Teese to Zoë Kravitz to my mom, some of my favourite women have turned the red lip into a personal trademark.
For me, shades like M.A.C’s "Ruby Woo”, Dior’s "Rouge 999” and Fenty Beauty’s "Uncensored” are my go-tos when I want to make an entrance. Before a big meeting, interview or night out, that first swipe feels like a confidence spell.
A few years ago, I interviewed French makeup artist and VIOLETTE_FR founder, Violette, who’s basically never without her scarlet mouth. Her take on red lipstick stuck with me: “Red lipstick should be daring. I want it to be brave. I want it to be powerful! Because for me, red lipstick is all about empowerment. Sure, it’s also a strong seduction tool but it’s a powerful tool which is especially important right now,” she told me, likening it to a weapon.
The allure of a red lippie never really left, but it’s definitely having a glow-up. Love her or not, Taylor Swift is the modern ambassador of red lips—her smudge-proof pout (her fave is Pat McGrath’s LiquiLUST Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in “Elson 4”) has survived yet another era, and her sparkly Showgirl spin is making us all want to play a little harder with our glam.
COURTESY OF TAS RIGHTS MANAGEMENTThe right shade is basically your makeup bag’s secret weapon; it ties everything together in seconds and instantly says main character energy. Ideal for a holiday party or anytime you want to turn the volume up on your look.
The catch? A classic red lip can be high-maintenance, at least if we’re talking old-school bullet formulas. Thankfully, it’s 2025, and the new wave of lip tech (think stains, liquids and tints) is here to keep your lips smooth, saturated and totally transfer-proof. No smudges on your cocktail glass, no lipstick casualties mid-hors d’oeuvre.
Nars Powermatte High-Intensity Long-Lasting Lip Pencil in “Midnight Rider”

This pencil-style lipstick glides on like butter and delivers full pigment in one swipe. The shade “Midnight Rider” is that perfect bright, classic red that makes you feel instantly more pulled together, even—or especially—when you’re not. It’s lightweight, smooth and hydrating, but here’s the kicker: I accidentally wore it through a HIIT class and it didn’t move (I’m a very sweaty person). Not a smudge or stain on my water bottle. Basically, it’s red lipstick with endurance training.
Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream in “Inspire”

The shade “Inspire” is the kind of red that guarantees at least one compliment every time I wear it. The bright, feel-good formula glides on like a dream, thanks to the soufflé texture that feels weightless and lush. It’s neither tacky nor heavy, just smooth and soft with a dewy-matte finish that looks better the longer you wear it. Honestly, I think it’s at its peak around hour three or four. Lived-in, effortless and perfectly undone.
Maybelline SuperStay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipstick in “Royal”

If you’re after shine that stays, this is your girl. Maybelline’s Super Stay Vinyl Ink in “Royal” is a punchy blue-red that instantly brightens your whole face and refuses to quit. It glides on like lacquer, sets to a glossy finish and doesn’t move through meals, coffee runs or cocktails. The pigment is rich, the finish mirror-like. Once it dries, it feels surprisingly lightweight. One note: it’s not the most hydrating, so prep with a lip balm up first (try the Weleda Everon Lip Balm). And yes, you’ll need a solid makeup remover at the end of the night.
Wonderskin Wonder Blading All Day Lip Stain Peel Off Masque in “Divine”

You’ve probably seen it all over your FYP. I know I did—over and over again until I finally caved and ordered one. Now I own six shades. Wonderskin seemed too good to be true, but if you’re chasing lip colour that actually doesn’t budge (and never transfers), it’s worth the hype. There’s a bit of a learning curve: you paint on a bold metallic-blue masque, wait a minute, then wipe to reveal a perfectly tinted pout. “Divine,” a deep, sultry red with burgundy undertones, is my go-to. If you want to add shine, you can apply a gloss or oil on top—there’s no risk of the tint transferring.
L’Oréal Paris Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Ink in “Be Determined”

This is probably one of my all-time favourites (and a steal at under $15). It nails that perfect gloss-meets-stain vibe. It feels weightless but still delivers major shine and rich colour that lasts for hours. No stickiness or smearing—just juicy, glassy lips that look polished yet effortless. Basically, it’s my lazy-girl glam hack.
Dior Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Transfer-Proof Lipstick in “999 Forever Dior”

I’ve always loved Dior’s “999” in bullet form, but discovering the transfer-proof liquid version was a game-changer. The ultra-pigmented shade hits that perfect bold-red mark, and the formula is truly budge-proof. It wears weightlessly, stays crisp all day and gives you statement lips without the usual upkeep. If you love that iconic red, this is the upgrade.
