Warner Bros. released posters that offer a first look at Robert Pattinson’s character, reportedly the villain Scytale. The posters also highlight returning characters, including Jason Momoa’s Duncan Idaho. Denis Villeneuve directs the third installment, which adapts Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah and takes place about 12 years after Dune: Part Two. The story establishes Paul Atreides as Emperor and sets the film for theatrical release on December 18.

The new promotional material features Zendaya as Chani and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. It also presents Javier Bardem as Stilgar and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. Anya Taylor-Joy appears as Alia Atreides alongside Isaach de Bankolé as the Fremen character Farok. The posters show Alia in an intense close-up with a blood-covered face, emphasizing her expanded role after previously appearing only in Paul’s vision.

The narrative places both Alia and Princess Irulan at the center of the story and uses Irulan’s marriage to Paul as a key plot point. Although Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah does not include Lady Jessica, the film brings her back. Josh Brolin reprises Gurney Halleck in a smaller role. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke portray Paul and Chani’s children, Leto II and Ghanima Atreides.

Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that this installment will conclude his trilogy. The film will debut with an exclusive IMAX window during its opening weekend. It will release alongside Avengers: Doomsday. This release period has been informally referred to as Dunesday.
