The trailer for Steve Carell‘s new comedy series has been released! On Thursday (February 5), HBO debuted the first look at the upcoming comedy series Rooster starring the 63-year-old Golden Globe-winning actor. Here’s the logline: “A comedy set on a college campus centering on an author’s (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter (Charly Clive). Keep reading to find out more…The cast also includes Phil Dunster, Lauren Tsai, Danielle Deadwyler, and John C. McGinley along with recurring guest stars Connie Britton, Alan Ruck, Robby Hoffman, and Annie Mumolo.
The trailer suggests that Steve‘s character Greg is at the college to help his daughter as she separates from her two-timing husband, who cheats on her with a grad student. It’s soon obvious that Greg needs a break from his own reality and when undergrads start calling him “Rooster,” the name of the protagonist in his novels, he decides to embody the character.
Rooster premieres Sunday, March 8 at 10pm ET on HBO, and will be available for streaming on HBO Max. New episodes will debut weekly through May 10.
