[unpaid/affiliate] I have looked at so many silk skirt options for this post because there is something very lovely about contrasting a floaty, lacy skirt with warming, chunky jumpers and boots. I love that look that’s a bit outdoorsy and a bit rock and roll at the same time. I reality, I have never fully embraced the look – I want to, but I’ve never found the right skirt. I have an ancient DKNY beige-ish cable sweater that would be just the ticket though.

I don’t love the way Massimo Dutti has styled this, but it is the best one in a still vaguely affordable price bracket (don’t start me on Me & Em prices but if you have the budget, take a look HERE).

If it’s a bit steep, which it is maybe, Uniqlo (above) has some more basic but still delightful version HERE in several colours (wine!) for £34.99 (if you’re handy you could just machine on your own lace hem).

Let’s not forget that while I’m being whimsical about wood-chopping in lace and Fair Isle a la fashion shoots, this is a skirt that can (was about to say rise to any occasion and then fell about at my own wit ;-)) hold its own with a camisole, cashmere, scoop neck, polo neck, bra revealing blouse, long sleeve, short sleeve, mid sleeve and whatever else you care to throw at it.
