Like many young girls of the ‘90s, I took ballet. My career didn’t quite catapult me to Center Stage-esque fame, however; I hung up my shoes when I was about nine years old. But whenever I see a tight, high bun like Selena Gomez's, I'm instantly transported back to the barre, practicing the five positions and doing plié after plié. Though Gomez wore her snatched ballerina bun to a red carpet event and not to class, I could easily see her dancing off the carpet and onto the stage in this classically pretty style. All she needs is a pair of pointe shoes!

Gomez wore the bun to a Disney upfronts events in support of her Emmy-winning TV series Only Murders in the Building; she was accompanied by her costars Steve Martin and Martin Short, but the ballet bun was definitely the star of the show. Hairstylist Orlando Pita blew Gomez's hair out, then pulled it back and up, setting a super-sleek foundation and slicking the hair down before gathering the lengths into a high bun right at the crown of her head. Pita then wrapped the remaining hair around the base of the bun and used the end of a comb to make sure not a single hair was out of place.

The rest of Gomez's glam was equally ballet-inspired, with her go-to makeup artist Hung Vanngo crafting a soft brown eye with winged liner and a nude rose satin lip. Manicurist Tom Bachik applied custom-created Gel-X tips to Gomez's nails, then used his Click Colors gel pen in Super Clear for a subtle, shiny naked nail. (Essie's iconic Ballet Slippers would give you a similar look, and the name is right on theme!)

Gomez's high bun couldn't have come at a better time. Not only is the weather heating up as we inch closer to summer—a.k.a. the best time to wear a bun and keep your hair off your neck!—it's also peak wedding season, and there's nothing prettier than a bride, bridesmaid, or wedding guest in a graceful updo like this. Wait… is this a hint at a potential Selena Gomez wedding hairstyle? You never know!
