[unpaid/sample] What I like about Shay & Blue fragrances is that they’re usually fairly uncomplicated. What the fragrance name suggests is exactly what you’ll get, making them ideal for someone like me who finds nuanced notes quite difficult – I get a bit tired of multi-layered fragrances whose notes are impossible to pick through and you are just supposed to like the overall effect rather than expect to experience everything. I often can’t pick up individually named notes so they might as well not be there.

If you love a rhubarb note, that’s precisely what you’ll get with this blend. It’s super fruity with a tinge of sharpness for the rhubarb made creamy by the sandalwood. Oh, rhubarb and cream is a delish dessert by the way. Genuinely, all I can smell in this is rhubarb and sandalwood although there is mention of green pea shoots which I think I might have caught a whiff of.

The rhubarb is bright and vibrant which I love – it’s a happy scent for a happy day and I can see me spritzing this on a sunny spring day. I’ve got three more fragrances in the citrus family from Shay & Blue that I’m looking forward to telling you about but for now, Rhubarb Sandalwood is £25 for 10ml HERE.

The website is a bit of a nightmare, I’ve got to admit – there’s a lot going on. However, the most useful thing, which I’ve never seen on any other fragrance website, is that it gives a list of fragrances from other brands that are similar which tells you that if you’ve previously enjoyed any of their suggestions, you will probably like their version. For Rhubarb Sandalwood, it offered Hermes Rhubarbe Ecarlate, Jo Malone White Lilac & Rhubarb, Jo Malone Tangy Rhubarb, Commodity Juice and Byredo Chaotique. If I can personally liken it to anything, it’s Floral Street’s Electric Rhubarb.
