baked shrimp

This is one of those recipes that doesn’t rely on cream or heavy sauces. It is simple, shrimp baked on lemon and seasoned with a dry Italian seasoning. Putting this recipe together is so easy yet the dish is still packed with so much flavor. It can easily be served as an appetizer or main dish, too, depending on the serving size.

Recipe tips:

Shrimp-

We use medium-large size shrimp with the tails on for this recipe. Frozen and thawed or fresh shrimp of any size will work. Feel free to take the tails off if you prefer.

Seasoning- a dry Italian seasoning packet or zesty Italian seasoning packet would both be great here. If you’d like to add some spice, add in some crushed red pepper flakes.

Serving- Serve this alone as an appetizer or over pasta as an entrée – it goes well over linguini.

How to Prep Shrimp

  • Peeling + deveining: You can usually buy raw shrimp that are already peeled and deveined, but if you can’t find them, it’s not that hard to do it yourself. It is slightly gross, but all you do is make a little cut down the back and pull out the ‘vein.’
  • Should I remove the tails? I recommend keeping the tails on if you are serving as an appetizer as they provide a handle for eating and add flavor during cooking, but you can remove them if you prefer. However if are serving with pasta you probably want to trim the tails.

How To Make Simple Italian Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds shrimp that has been shelled and deveined
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 lemon, sliced thin
  • 1 package dry Italian seasoning packet

  2. Lay lemon slices on melted butter.
  3. Lay shrimp on top of butter and lemons.
  4. Sprinkle the dry Italian dressing mix on top of the shrimp.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, until light golden brown.
  6. This is great alone or served on pasta or rice using melted butter/lemon juice drizzled on top.
