Team USA hockey won the gold in a nail-biting match that ended in an overtime victory on Sunday (February 22).

They played Canada in the Gold Medal Match during the 2026 Olympics, and scored a goal in overtime ending the game in a 2-1 victory.

After the game, the team immediately rushed together to celebrate.

Quickly after, they held up a jersey that said “Gaudreau” on the back. This represented Johnny Gaudreau, their teammate who tragically died in August of 2024 after being killed by a drunk driver on the weekend of their sister’s wedding. Johnny‘s brother Matthew was also killed in the tragedy.

Johnny‘s kids and family were in Italy to see the Team USA victory.
