As one of only 85 people worldwide with the rare condition of crystal-storing histiocytosis, Kim Eboch relies on her Johns Hopkins specialists to get the care she needs. Because of restrictions on telehealth across state lines, Kim has to come in person to all of her appointments. This means driving seven hours each way, spending hundreds of dollars in food and housing, and risking her health and well-being to see her doctors.
