[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I don’t know how I haven’t come across Tenth Muse before but first impressions are strong for this solid fragrance brand founded by Sophie Beaumont Willis. The launch of the brand came post-Covid – a mission to counteract the irritation brought on by regular fragrances. All the packaging is recyclable from start to finish and the fragrance has a metal compact (bought separately, and I don’t have it to show you unfortunately) that you can refill as and when.

The perfume balm is light on the skin – there’s no residue or stickiness – so once it’s on you are very much unaware of any texture at all. The fragrance I chose, 0.7 Salted Skin, is a blend of sea salt, green tea and coconut. There are some woody middle notes and a base of amber and jasmine and if all this sounds a lot, it really isn’t.

The fragrance is light – you aren’t going to be overwhelmed by it – but I can easily pick up drifts of salt and coconut and a trail of the jasmine base. It’s sweet in the nutty way that fresh coconut is, it’s warming and floatily, gently floral with a skin like finish which is sensual and comforting. If I was going to be picky, I’d say that I’d like to rev up the scent power a fraction but I know that so many of us can’t tolerate a big fragrance and if that’s you, Tenth Muse Salted Skin is perfect.

These are the compacts – ideal for travel, to have in your handbag and doesn’t count as a liquid so one thing less to squish into that plastic bag. The compacts are £24 each and the solid balms are £18 so even together they’re not coming close to what most bottled fragrances cost. Italian Summer, Date Night (peachy – I nearly chose that one) and Wildflower Haze are some of the other options from neatly pared back cast that won’t have you feeling indecisive or overwhelmed.
