Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAyo Edebiri's 2025 Golden Globes suit might look familiar for a very good reason. See how The Bear star channeled Julia Roberts' iconic menswear look from the 1990 award ceremony over 30 years later.
2025 Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion: Zendaya, Selena Gomez & More Jaw-Dropping Looks
We simply can’t bear Ayo Edebiri’s latest red carpet moment.
The Bear star stepped out at the 2025 Golden Globes in Los Angeles Jan. 5—where she was nominated for her performance in season three of the dark comedy—in a Julia Roberts-inspired suit that was anything but a big—HUGE!—mistake.
In fact, the 29-year-old channeled one of the Pretty Woman star's most iconic red carpet looks with a fresh, modern twist thanks to designer Loewe. Ayo made a bold fashion statement in an over-sized gray suit and gold tie for the occasion, a nod to the nearly identical suit Julia wore to the 1990 Globes ceremony where she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steel Magnolias.
Ayo completed her menswear-inspired ensemble with gray loafers and wavy hair, matching Julia's styling from over 30 years ago.
As for how the Emmy winner perfected her homage-paying look, she and stylist Danielle Goldberg worked for months alongside Loewe Creative Director Jonathan Anderson.
“Danielle and I remembered Julia Roberts’s grey suit from the ’90 Golden Globes,” Ayo—who lost the Best Actress—Television Series Musical or Comedy category this year to Hacks' Jean Smart—told Vogue. “We’ve maybe been talking about this look since October or November, so for the past few days, seeing it bubbling up again has felt like wild kismet.”
Ayo was also inspired by another Golden Globe-nominated film.
“I felt really inspired by the costumes Jonathan designed for Luca Guadagnino's film Queer, and loved the idea of playing around with menswear," she told the outlet, "especially with a suit that felt of that era.”
Ayo pulled off a rare feat during the 2023 awards season by winning a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for the same role. But amid the avalanche of accolades, she admitted her younger self wasn't too concerned with critical success.

Health coverage aside, the actress previously discussed how rewarding her role as Sydney Adamu has been.
“Work can be a very intimate thing and a very personal thing and a very emotional thing,” Ayo told Vanity Fair in May 2024. “And I think when you're also in industries that are creative or creative adjacent, I think there's something that also invokes feelings of passion.”
“She didn't dream of nights like this,” Ayo told E! News at the 2023 Emmys last January. “She sort of dreamed of dental insurance. We got dental, we eyes, we got ears. We can go to the dermatologist.”
And Jeremy Allen White, who won his second Globe for his role as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on The Bear during the Jan. 5 ceremony, offered hefty praise for his costar.
“We really enjoy each other in life, on camera and off camera,” he told the outlet. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for her as a person, but also as an artist.”
