Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo has officially signed on to join The Running Man cast for the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King‘s 1982 dystopian thriller novel. Paramount Pictures will be releasing the movie in theaters on November 7, 2025.

Domingo is set to portray the role of Bobby Thompson, who will be the host of the titular game. This marks the acclaimed actor’s latest major movie project after over a year since starring in Rustin and The Color Purple. He will next be seen in Netflix’s sci-fi adventure movie The Electric State with Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. Domingo is also expected to reprise his role in the highly-anticipated third season of HBO’s Euphoria.

Who is in The Running Man cast?

Domingo will be joining Anyone But You and Twisters star Glen Powell, who will be leading the cast as the character participating in a real-life survival reality program created by the government. The cast also includes Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Katy O’Brian, Karl Glusman, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, and more.

“The story centers around one desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants,” reads the synopsis. “The longer a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.”

The Running Man remake is being directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. It is produced by Wright, Simon Kinberg, Leo Thompson, Audrey Chon, and Nira Park, with James Biddle and George Linder serving as executive producers. King’s novel was first adapted as a movie in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring.
