Amazon MGM Studios debuted The Thomas Crown Affair trailer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, featuring Michael B. Jordan‘s first live-action role since his recent Oscar win, and Adria Arjona. The studio also confirmed that Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste will score the film.

Amazon MGM Studios reveals first trailer for The Thomas Crown Affair at CinemaCon

Amazon MGM Studio’s CinemaCon presentation opened with Batiste’s piano performance of a hugely popular song, “The Windmills of Your Mind,” which was used in the 1968 eponymous original film. The Thomas Crown Affair trailer then screened for exhibitors, revealing Michael B. Jordan as a sophisticated art thief in a tense cat-and-mouse game with co-star Adria Arjona.

The sneak peek features Arjona challenging Jordan’s character directly. “Tell me something: Does this billionaire thing really work?” she flirtily asks in the trailer. She follows with a blunt critique, “I think you’re fractured, definitely have commitment issues. No serious relationships.” The dialogue continues as Jordan questions her motives, asking, “Are you hustling me, Ms. Bennett?” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Another scene shows Jordan confronting Kenneth Branagh‘s character. “You think it’s yours because you bought it, but it’s not,” Jordan says. The trailer hints at a personal mission, with the line “Revenge is a work of art” appearing in the reel shown at CinemaCon (via Deadline).

Michael B. Jordan’s version reimagines the story that Norman Jewison first brought to the screen in 1968 with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The 1999 remake starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo updated the premise, and now Jordan aims to put his own spin on the iconic role.

The Thomas Crown Affair’s plot details are scarce. However, the cast includes Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. Drew Pearce wrote the screenplay based on a story by Alan R. Trustman.

The new revival film is scheduled to release on March 5, 2027.
