Donald Trump‘s golf hobby is an expensive one for United States citizens during his second term in office. A new report suggests that the 79-year-old president has already cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 million just over 14 months after he was sworn into office again in January 2025. Keep reading to find out more… According to reporting by HuffPost, Trump is on par to spend approximately $300 million on golf trips during his second term in office. The estimate is nearly double the reported $151.5 million that he spent during his first four years in the White house. Released Saturday (March 28), the report suggested that the Republican and avid golf fan has already racked up approximately $101.2 million in costs to American taxpayers from his time on the course since returning to office. HuffPost reported the costs are related to “travel and security expenses” that come with vising the president’s courses. The estimates are based on a 2019 Government Accountability Office report, and they have not been adjusted to reflect inflation or other rising costs, such as increased gas prices amid Trump‘s war with Iran. The day that the story was published, Trump reportedly spent his 56th day golfing at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Fla., near his Mar-a-Lago country club. He’s reportedly golfed around 110 times so far since returning to office with trips to each of his courses carrying different costs. A visit to his course in Bedminster, N.J., for instance, costs around $1.1 million. However, trips to golf near Mar-a-Lago carry a heftier $3.4 million price tag dur to extra security needed in the area. The president has also reportedly spent $9.7 million to golf in Scotland in the summer of 2025. Between his 2017 inauguration and departing the Oval Office in January 2021, the president reportedly spent 293 days on golf courses that he owned, resulting in the $151.5 million estimate. In the years leading up to his first term, Trump was a frequent critic of former President Barack Obama spending time on vacation or golfing. While campaigning for his first term, Politico reported that he famously said he’d be too busy to golf, claiming he’d be “working for [Americans]” instead of practicing his golf swing. Just Jared contacted the White House for comment about Trump‘s rumored spending but did not hear back at the time of publication.
