Donald Trump made a comment that he said could very easily end his political career.

The 79-year-old president called into The Five on Fox News on Thursday (March 26). During the interview, he was questioned by cohost Dana Perino about the status of Iranian citizens amid the current war in their country.

“I think it is alarming that we have not been able to see or hear from any of the Iranian people, and I imagine that is because their internet is shut down, and I think there is some general worry about them,” she said, adding, “Do you have any insight as to how they are doing? Do they have drinking water? Do they have food?”

She described the worry as “upsetting.”

In his response, Trump made a remark that he said would get him in trouble. Despite expressing concerns, he decided to say it anyways.

The president said he had an answer to the question before shifting the conversation to a memory he shared with the Fox host.

“But first, you remember when we had lunch years ago in the base of Trump Tower when it was a brand new building?” he asked.

Perino confirmed that she recalled, saying, “A long time ago.”

“And you haven’t changed. You have not changed. I’m not allowed to say this… It’s the end of my political career. But you may be even better looking,” Trump said.

He continued, adding, “So I don’t know what you’re doing… But I will not say that because it will end my political career. You’re not allowed to say a woman is beautiful anymore. You know that Jesse [Watters]? You have to be careful.”

After the awkward remarks, the Republican did address Perino‘s question, saying that he thought the Iranian people were “petrified” due to how they’d been treated by their government, who he said has “very nasty guns.”

“They have the worst guns and machine guns. And what they do is they shoot you. And the people are brave, but they’re not brave when they see people going down left and right,” he said, adding, “No matter who you are — I don’t care how brave, unless you’re really sort of stupid — you can’t protest.”

Trump insisted, “The only reason they’re not protesting is they’re being shot.”

His remarks come amid ongoing concerns about alleged peace talks that he’s engaging in with Iranian officials. Since launching the war in February, Trump has made confusing and often seemingly contradictory claims about the status of the fighting.
