Sony Pictures has finally shared the Until Dawn first look video for its highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of the hit horror video game series. At the moment, the movie has no official release date yet.

“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers,” reads the official synopsis. “Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

What happens in the Until Dawn first look video?

The video shows the creative team of director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle Creation, Lights Out) and writer Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home, Salem’s Lot) discussing the filmmaking process of the upcoming Until Dawn movie. Sandberg also explained how the movie honors the source material, teasing a time-loop nightmare for the characters.

The Until Dawn cast includes Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Love Victor), Ji-young Yoo (Expats), Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser reboot), Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble), and Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell), with Peter Stormare (Fargo), who originally voiced the character of Dr. Hill in the video game series. It is described as an “R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre.” The adaptation is produced by Qizilbash, Dauberman, Mia Maniscalco, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, and Carter Swan.
