In Memoriam: Fallen Stars of 2024

Katie Maloney is in mourning.

The Vanderpump Rules alum shared that her dad Richard Maloney died on Jan. 5.

"I feel like I am a stranger to grief," she wrote on Instagram Jan. 10. "As much as it has touched my life and so many I love. It’s not something I have become comfortable or well acquainted with."

Maloney—who finalized her divorce with costar Tom Schwartz in 2022—went on to share how she was processing the news.

"I have been met with a variety of emotions, numbness, peace, complete udder sadness, and even at times guilt," she continued. "My dad was everyone’s favorite, he was so charming, made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. We shared the love of dad jokes and he had an endless supply."

In her touching tribute, Maloney noted how her father was "always so supportive" of her endeavors, before sharing some of her favorite memories of him.

"I cannot smell Irish spring without immediately thinking about him, how the scent almost covered up the smell of wheel grease from his job," the 37-year-old wrote. "It’s a core memory that I have always held and hold closer now."

She ended her post—which included a photo of the father-daughter duo in the snow—by saying, "Dad, I love you forever, thank you for the million laughs, for the father daughter dances throughout life and for the love you gave us. Love, your baby girl."

His cause of death has not been revealed.

During her time of grief, Maloney is being supported by her Bravo family, including former costar Brittany Cartwright, who commented, "I’m so sorry Katie  your Dad was always so kind! Sending you love."

Heather Gay added, "thinking of you," while Kristen Doute wrote, "I love that first photo of the two of you. so many memories. love you."
