These simple washcloth bunny and chick are so easy to make and are a great addition to a baby shower gift or Easter basket. Or, have the kids help make these for some fun on a rainy day.

Washcloth Bunny and Chick

Need a little something extra to tuck in a baby shower gift or in an Easter basket? These washcloth bunny and chicks are cute as can be, take minutes to make, and are even practical.

To attach the eyes, beak, and tails, I used glue dots. If the recipient would like to use the washcloths, the glue dots are easy to remove along with the attachments. You can also use hot glue for a more permanent washcloth animal.

  3. Fold the towel in half so the ends (the bunny ears) are pointing upwards.bent and rolled white washcloth
  4. Fold the towel in half again, so the bunny ears point downward.
  5. Cross the ends over a bit so you won’t have a seam showing.
  6. Secure the bundle with an elastic in the center. Set the towel on the side and puff up and arrange the ears. Tie a piece of ribbon around the elastic. white washcloth tied with a ribbon
  7. Use the glue dots to adhere plastic eyes, a pink pom pom for the nose, and a pom pom for the tail.Bunny washcloth with googly eyes

  2. Bend the towel into a spiral (as if you were making hot pretzels).twisted yellow washcloth

  4. Tie a piece of ribbon around the elastic. Use glue dots to adhere plastic eyes and a triangle of orange felt for the beak.yellow chick washcloth with googly eyes and ribbon

A note about safety: As I mentioned above, if you plan on using the washcloths, use glue dots to easily remove the eyes, tails, noses, and beaks (and be sure to remove the glue dots, too).

If the gift is for a child (especially under three), be sure to remove the extras and the glue dots. If you are using more permanent hot glue in place of the glue dots, I still do not recommend giving a child under three the towels with the eyes, noses, and tails attached.

These little washcloth animals are so fun and easy to make, you can use them for gifts or just as a fun craft activity to do with kids. Next, I might have to make a whole zoo.
