PROTECT YOUR DNA WITH QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY
Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayOh honey! The bee byproduct is a delicious addition to your tea, toast, or baking, but it's equally delicious in fragrance form. The best honey perfumes bring a luscious warmth to any scent profile; honey flirts with florals like bees buzzing around a rose, enhances gourmand notes like vanilla and caramel, and takes a fruity scent to the next level of sweetness, just like a drizzle of honey elevates a bowl of raspberries or peaches.
Honey perfumes may not be as common as fellow foodie notes like vanilla, cherry, or marshmallow, but that's what makes them all the more special, and of late, trendy. Maybe you gravitate toward a very realistic honey scent that makes you feel like a beekeeper caring for your hive—waxy, smoky, and earthy. Or perhaps you're into the more sensual side of honey, looking for something that drips with come-hither romance. Whatever you're in the mood for, there's a honey perfume to satisfy your cravings.

Best Overall: Kilian Paris Back to Black Eau de Parfum
Kilian Paris
Back to Black Eau de Parfum

Allure contributor Kara Nesvig holding the Kilian Paris Back to Black Eau de Parfum
Why it’s worth it: Kilian Paris's Back to Black is an absolutely intoxicating honey fragrance, infused with a luscious depth and sillage that lingers for hours. It envelops the wearer in a cloak of mystery and drama, but the magic of Back to Black eau de parfum is that while it's packed with heavy-hitting notes of incense, sandalwood, and honey, it never feels heavy, cloying, or hard to wear. Instead, it's magnetic and sensual, with a silky, edgy finish that bottles up the feeling of wearing a slip dress with a vintage leather jacket.
“This is my personal favorite honey fragrance, one I fell in love with well over a decade ago. It was one of my first big splurge fragrances back when I made a measly shopgirl salary. But it was so worth it! They classify Back to Black as an aphrodisiac for a reason; the fragrance is so sexy, but in an unexpected way, thanks to the deep, smoky honey note. As the scent develops, it softens and fades into something more organic, almost like newly mown hay. Back to Black is sexy and slinky, but it's still down to earth—and that's what makes it so enchanting.” —Kara Nesvig, contributor
- Notes: incense, sandalwood, honey, vanilla
- Available sizes: 1.7 oz, 3.4 oz
Best Fruity Honey: Jo Malone London Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne
Jo Malone London
Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne
Allure content director Sophia Panych holding the Jo Malone London Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne
Why it’s worth it: Jo Malone London is known for their lovely lineup of simple but oh-so-sophisticated fragrances, and Nectarine Blossom & Honey is one of our all-time faves. It's the kind of scent you crave on a summer day: bright and fruity thanks to the cheerful peach notes up top, with honey serving as a delicate backbone. If perfume had a color, this one would definitely be a bright, effervescent orange. Nectarine Blossom & Honey sings in the warmer months, but don't discredit it during the winter, either, especially when you're craving something sweet and juicy.
“Nectarine Blossom & Honey is a Jo Malone classic. It's been around since 2005 and, in my opinion, one of the prettiest, most unique fragrances out there—I'd actually use the word ‘charming’ to describe it. I also find it to be one of Jo Malone's longest-lasting colognes. Colognes, by definition, aren't meant to be super strong (they contain less perfume oil than eau de parfums), so if you like a powerful, beast-mode type of fragrance, that's not the point of this scent, and it's probably not for you. But, when it comes to colognes and eau de toilettes I've tried over the years, this is one of the strongest and longest-lasting.
However, if you're looking for a realistic honey scent, this cologne is not it. Acacia honey sits in the middle, giving the fruity-green fragrance a warm, comforting sweetness that feels and smells like a sunny, spring afternoon as everything around you starts to bloom (I swear, you can hear bees buzzing as you spray this). It's really the juicy, fuzzy peach and earthy, tangy cassis notes that stand out, a combination that gives the cologne its ripe, mouthwatering quality that makes you want to keep spritzing. It's a fragrance I wear consistently in the spring and summer, and a great example of how honey can be used to enhance a fragrance, its golden, syrupy quality adding something special to fruit and floral notes.” —Sophia Panych, content director
- Notes: cassis, honey, peach
- Available sizes: 1 oz, 3.4 oz
Best Hair & Body Spray: Gisou Honey Infused Hair Perfume
Gisou
Honey Infused Hair Perfume

Allure associate beauty editor Annie Blay-Tettey holding the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Perfume
Why it’s worth it: Gisou, a hair and skin-care brand made with—you guessed it—honey, has deep expertise in the honey world; founder Negin Mirsalehi is a sixth-generation beekeeper. The brand expanded into fragrance with its Best of Beauty-winning Honey Infused Hair Perfumes in several dreamy scents, including classic Wildflower Honey, floral Wild Rose, and vibrant Lavender Berry. These dreamy, ultra-lightweight scents are perfect for spritzing with abandon and leave a trail of clean, fresh floral and honey notes wherever you go. Because the mists are so lightweight, you can layer them with your daily perfume for a custom honey concoction, or wear one in your hair and another on your skin.
Take it from another scent connoisseur (and fragrance brand founder), Jackie Aina: “It's a gourmand scent for people who think gourmands are polarizing. Gisou's has a great balance that's not too cloying.”
“I never thought to myself, 'I want to smell like honey' —until I came across Gisou. I first used the brand's honey-infused hair oil and the sweet scent immediately wooed me. When I discovered the Gisou Wildflower Honey hair perfume, I was smitten. I love the lightly sweet floral fragrance. It makes me feel feminine and delicate.” —Annie Blay-Tettey, associate beauty editor
- Notes: Mirsalehi honey
- Available sizes: 0.5 oz, 1.7 oz
Best Gourmand Honey: Ellis Brooklyn Bee Eau de Parfum
Why it’s worth it: This delightful honey scent is literally called Bee—what more could you ask for? Named in honor of Ellis Brooklyn founder Bee Shapiro, Bee is a warm and cozy gourmand honey with craveable notes of dark rum, cinnamon, vanilla, and cocoa that will make you want to sink your teeth into the scent. The (vegan) honey and bran absolute add a lush realism to the fragrance, with a subtle beeswax note that beautifully balances the boozy rum and sweet gourmand notes.
Tester feedback from former associate manager of special projects Talia Gutierrez
“Sweet honey, gourmand rum, and a touch of vanilla bean are just a few notes in this warm and fuzzy fragrance, which makes an excellent base for any fragrance layering. I like to pair a generous few sprays with a floral-forward jasmine fragrance (like Ellis Brooklyn's Myth), which almost guarantees a handful of compliments throughout the day." —Talia Gutierrez, former associate manager, special projects
- Notes: rum, vegan honey, bran absolute, cinnamon, vanilla bean, sandalwood, cocoa absolute
- Available sizes: 0.3 oz, 1.7 oz
Best True Honey: Demeter Honey Cologne Spray
Why it’s worth it: You simply can't have a roundup of the best honey scents without including something from Demeter, the fragrance house known for their light, one-note cologne recreations of everything from kitten fur to a funeral home. The brand's vast catalog also includes a very faithful and fun honey scent that smells as sweet and syrupy as honey straight from the honeycomb—or even one of those cute little bear-shaped bottles.
- Notes: honey
- Available sizes: 1 oz, 3.4 oz
Best Warm Honey: Lush The Bee's Knees Perfume
Why it’s worth it: We love a scent with an equally magical origin story. Lush's The Bee's Knees was inspired by the perfumer's father's bee colony and her memories of watching him tend to the buzzy little insects in the hive. The Bee's Knees grounds you in a sense of place in a nostalgic, evocative way. Up top, you get the sweet floral notes of freshly pollinated flowers and honey dripping from the honeycomb, accented by a deep, earthy tobacco note reminiscent of the bee smoker—a compelling, animalic finish that you'll want to cuddle up to. If you're looking for a very realistic honey scent that sweeps you away, this is the one.
- Notes: osmanthus, neroli, orange flower, tobacco
- Available sizes: 1 oz, 3.3 oz
Best Woody Honey: Heretic Beekeeper Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: Heretic's perfumes capture the energy and vigor of the natural world in such a magical way, and Beekeeper is no exception. With notes of vetiver, beeswax, and smoky myrrh, this limited-edition fragrance captures the hum and buzz of a hive in motion—another lifelike honey perfume that makes you feel like you are the beekeeper or maybe even one of the hive. (Fun fact: Heretic's founder, Douglas Little, is a beekeeper on the side!) Because the formula contains beeswax absolute, it's not considered vegan, but Heretic notes that the beeswax is carefully sourced without causing harm to the bees or their hives and “upcycled from the residual beeswax and honeycomb from the beehive value chain.” What's more: The scent notes can have aromatherapeutic benefits—honey is grounding, beeswax lifts your spirits, and myrrh helps clear the mind.
- Notes: papyrus, honey, myrrh, beeswax absolute, vetiver, cistus
- Available sizes: 0.5 oz
Best Floral Honey: Phlur Honey Moon Eau de Parfum
Why it’s worth it: Phlur has quickly become one of the buzziest (pun intended) fragrance lines around, with a broad lineup of viral fragrances and body sprays—including a Best of Beauty-winning Vanilla Skin spritz—inspired by your lover's skin, the beach, and figs. Honey Moon, a bright fruity floral drizzled with sweet, soft honey, is as romantic as its name suggests, with a blend of lavender, mandarin, and orange blossom top and mid-notes that sparkle on the skin. Rounding it out is a sensual yet subtle base of tonka and sandalwood. Wear it as a bridal scent or pack it for your actual honeymoon.
- Notes: lavender, mandarin, honey, orange blossom, saffron, tonka bean, sandalwood
- Available sizes: 0.3 oz, 1.7 oz
Best Beachy Honey: Oui the People Souk Honey Eau de Parfum
Why it’s worth it: Equal parts floral and woody, Oui the People's Souk Honey really shines on those hot, sticky summer days. Its white floral top notes of orange blossom, neroli, and jasmine ground you in a sun-soaked garden setting, and as the scent warms up with your body heat, it melts into a lush blend of spicy cardamom, rich dates, and a dollop of golden honey atop amber and sandalwood. Spray it on warm summer skin and let it bloom.
- Notes: orange blossom, neroli, jasmine, cardamom, dates, honey, amber, sandalwood
- Available sizes: 1 oz

How we test and review products
When Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. We review ingredients, scrutinize brand claims, and, when necessary, examine peer-reviewed scientific and medical studies. In addition to testing each and every product that's included in each and every review, we rely on experts who shape their fields, including dermatology, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine, to help us vet the ingredients and formulas.
For our review of the best honey perfumes, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, and contributors to review the products. We considered each product's performance across three primary categories: key notes, wear time, and packaging. For more on what's involved in our reporting, check out our complete reviews process and methodology page.
Our staff and testers
A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.
After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we've solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it's never been tested on curls? We're proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.
