The stitches were incorporated into the series after Clifton sustained an injury that required medical treatment.
Here’s why The Bold and the Beautiful’s Liam suddenly has stitches
The Bold and the Beautiful viewers recently noticed Liam appearing with stitches on the show. While the writers explained the injury through dialogue, the real reason was an injury sustained by actor Scott Clifton.
Clifton recently took to Instagram to share details about the incident. The actor posted photos showing a deep cut above his eyebrow. Additional images showed blood on the bathroom floor.
Clifton explained that the accident occurred after a stressful day involving his 81-year-old mother. He also revealed that he had been sleep-deprived and suddenly fainted while going to the bathroom.
“But something wasn’t quite right, and I could tell I was about to faint. That’s the last thing I remember. I woke up slumped over the edge of the bathtub, upper body mangled inside of it with my feet draped outside,” he said.
“Blood everywhere, a splitting headache, and an impregnable determination to claw my way to a mirror and see just how much extra work I’d created for the B&B makeup department in a few short hours. And that’s when I noticed the giant hole in my face,” the post added.
The Bold and the Beautiful star said doctors diagnosed him with a concussion. They warned him about possible memory loss during recovery. “I’m posting about this: I am so sickeningly lucky to be a part of this team, this family, this wholly benevolent daytime empire,” he added.
Fortunately, Clifton is recovering, and the stitches have been incorporated into the storyline of The Bold and the Beautiful.
