Erin Foster knew that everybody would want to see Adam Brody and Kristen Bell's chemistry.
The Nobody Wants This creator stepped out for the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Feb. 7 at Santa Monica's Baker Hangar. And while walking the red carpet, Erin revealed that the crew behind the Netflix show predicted early on that viewers would be interested in the series' central romance between the Adam and Kristen due to their electric onscreen dynamic. (See all the stars who stepped out for the Critics Choice Awards here.)
"We knew that was gonna happen because we were on set watching them," Erin exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi before quipping, "We were like, 'Are they having an affair?' This chemistry is insane."
But Adam—who has been married to Leighton Meester since 2014—and Kristen—who tied the knot with Dax Shephard in 2013—totally quenched those fears as soon as the cameras stopped rolling.
"Then the cameras turn off," Erin explained, "and they're like brother and sister."
Of course, Adam and Kristen aren't the only ones responsible for building up the romantic tension between their Nobody Wants This characters. In fact, Sara Foster—who produced the comedy hit alongside Erin—credited her sister with making their steamy first kiss such a memorable moment.

"Erin was crazy about the kissing scene," Sara told E! during the joint interview. "She was in their face the whole time off camera. She knew exactly how she wanted that kiss and she got the kiss."
All of that attention to detail certainly paid off. After all, Nobody Wants This was nominated for three awards at this year's Critics Choice Awards: Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Adam) and Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Kristen).
However, all the success still feels unexpected for Sara. As she put it, "We really didn't know what we had."
