Fans of General Hospital have become curious as to whether the show is now on break or will go entirely off-air due to ongoing premiere delays. The long-running soap opera, which began in 1963, usually premieres Monday through Friday on ABC. However, in the past week, the show has experienced various disruptions amid the LA fires. This had made many fans concerned about the fate of General Hospital.

So, here are details on why fans believe that the show is on break or will not return.

Could General Hospital go on a break or off-air due to LA fires?

There are no confirmed reports that indicate that General Hospital will permanently go off-air. Also, it’s not on hiatus either, given that the January 10 episode premiered on regular timings on ABC.

The January 7 episode didn’t premiere at its usual timings due to the news coverage taking its spot. The news coverage focused on the death of former President Jimmy Carter, which happened on December 29. While the nation continues to mourn his loss, his coffin was brought to Washington, DC for further ceremonies and services, taking place for three days. Due to this, the hit soap opera didn’t air.

Moreover, the deadly LA fires and poor signals due to bad weather conditions impacted the airing schedule. The official General Hospital Instagram page also addressed the delay and the devastating situation across LA. The page further alerted the audience about other episodes also facing potential delays for some in such a situation.

The post read, “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires currently raging in Los Angeles County. In light of current events, today’s episode of General Hospital (and several that follow) may prove too difficult to watch for some. Please keep this in consideration prior to tuning in. Thank you for your understanding.”

Nonetheless, Thursday and Friday’s episodes premiered at regular timings on the network, per ABC’s episode schedules.
